Of the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Council
Of the Aleph Zadik Aleph
Preamble
We, the members of the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph
of the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization establish as our purpose:
THE SPIRIT, MENTAL, AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE JEWISH YOUTH
THE INOCULATION OF A LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR JEWISH
CULTURAL HERITAGE.
THE SIMULATION OF RESPONSIBILITY AS GOOD CITIZENS OF THE
COMMUNITY IN WHICH THEY LIVE, AS WELL AS IN THE
LARGER JEWISH COMMUNITY.
THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF GOOD WILL AMONG THE YOUTH OF ALL PEOPLES,
AND INTEREST IN
HUMANITARIAN, PHILANTHROPIC, AND EDUCATIONAL ENDEAVORS.
Furthermore, we hereby establish this Constitution as a guide for the achievement of these
aims, and the corresponding aims of all chapters of the Aleph Zadik Aleph located in the
Metropolitan Washington D.C. area.
Article /. Name
This body shall be known as the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Council of the Aleph
Zadik Aleph of the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization. It was resolved that the mascot of
the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Council be "Ziggy."
Article II. B'nai Brith Youth Commission
The Metropolitan Washington D.C. Council of the Aleph Zadik Aleph is hereby declared
to be a part of the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization, under the sponsorship of the B'nai
B'rith Youth Commission, along with the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Adult Board.
Nothing herein shall be construed to conflict with the rules, policies, and regulations of the
B'nai B'rith Youth Commission or the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Adult Board. If
the provisions of the Constitution and By-Laws and those of the B'nai Brith Youth
Commission as they read, or may later be amended, come into conflict, such provisions of
the Constitution and By-Laws of the B'nai B'rith Youth Commission shall be supreme in
every case.
