3 BBYO Leaders
At srael Parley
BBYO's three international presidents at the world lead-
ership conference of the B'nai B'rith Board of Governors in
Israel eloquently urged intensified effort to increase aliyah
-immigration to Israel. GAG Jack Mintz, N'siah Amy
Horowitz and President Pam Gewirtz, all full voting mem-
bers of the board, called upon adult Jewish leadership to
exert more resources and energy to this endeavor, which
had been described by Israeli authorities, as a crucial need.
During the course of their 10-day visit, the BBYO leaders
participated in several meetings designed to apprise the policy-
making level of B'nai B'rith of latest developments in Israel's
economic, political and social spheres. The gathering followed
several recent crises: a reported "change" in America's Middle
East policy, France's decision to sell 150 jet planes to Libya,
and the State Department's decision-"for the present"-to
sell Israel any additional jet aircraft.
BBYO leaders toured the country, spoke to government
notables and conferred with members of Noar Lenoar
("youth to youth"), Israel's BBYO-affiliated youth move-
ment.
CALL FOR ACTION ON SOVIET JEWRY
Speakers at a series of seminars included Prime Minister
Golda Meir, Deputy Prime Minister Yigal Allon and Foreign
Minister Abba Eban and Shmuel Divon, diaspora affairs
adviser in the Foreign Ministry. Discussion focused on
