A Tribute in Loving Member to Sam Beber, February 1977
A TRIBUTE IN LOVING MEMORY TO SAM BEBER
He was a man of greatness, who excelled in every way,
Exemplifying truth and good throughout his life each day.
His deep concern for others, deeds of kindness to them, too,
Endeared him SO to everyone, and those he hardly knew.
He had a strength of purpose to achieve the very best;
Proved by goals accomplished, to which his record will attest.
His qualities were many, so outstanding as he was.
His fine and splendid character has left its mark on us.
His loyalty to friends was shared in joys and in strife,
So constant, as he nurtured friendships lasting all his life.
His great capacity for work was inspired by one ideal;
To help mankind, to lease its pain, to comfort and to heal.
His academic record gained him praise and recognition,
When honored Magna Cum Laude at Creighton's graduation.
The writing of his speeches, all so beautiful to read,
Reflected keen perception and insight to human need.
He organized and led fine groups of men in Omaha,
And held positions of esteem while practicing his law.
The dedication to his work, to BBYO, too,
Was pursued with much devotion, meeting challenges, anew.
Some days were dark, the struggle hard, but his determination
Was based on faith and fortitude, to solve a situation.
He guided and he counseled Jewish youth with dignity,
Whose leadership provided strength and hope for unity.
The quality of life he taught to boys along the way,
Instilling in them values, and to live with pride each day.
For years he had a vision to create a group for them,
Where brotherhood and peace prevail and, heritage, their gem.
Through this his great accomplishment was founding AZA.
His dream fulfilled, he worked to make it what it is today.
From one small chapter it has grown in stature through the years,
To international reknown, wherein his name appears.
His dearest dream was to establish Camps for AZA,
Where youth could build upon the sound foundation that he lay.
He lived to see this dream come true, his proudest moment when,
With joy, he watched the scores at Camp of fine, young Jewish men.
And now the tribute is for him, the honor all his own;
B'nai B'rith Beber Camp is duly his reward, alone.
The endless contributions that he made will always be
In deep appreciation, for his generosity.
He eagerly gave of himself in energy and time,
Accomplishing tremendous tasks with spirit strong and fine.
He had a deep devotion to his family and wife.
A loving soul, who gave them so much happiness in life.
His wisdom, warmth and intellect, were only just a part
of one who had compassion, and an understanding heart.
A human being, so wonderful, graced with humility,
Has now become a legend, to remain eternally.
He was a giant among his peers, and truly walked with God.
A leader who inspired us all to follow where he trod.
We offer him our love and pride, and deep respect in prayer
With reverence and grateful hearts, his life was our's to share.
In his own words:
To few is given the privilege and joy of
seeing an idea flower and grow to such
proportions 11
And may we say:
To few is given the privilege and joy of
seeing a person develop and grow to such
greatness.
