My dear Jay Alvin:
I am delighted to hear the first
blast of the Bisno shofar and to know that President
Roosevelt and the Cabinet welcomed you upon your
arrival in Washington. Of course you know that in
a sense I am your Grandfather. So that I rejoice
particularly in your good fortune in finding very,
very nice parents. May you have a great deal of
happiness. By the time you come to be fifty, may the
General Jewish Council be a functioning organization.
Please convey my greetings to your
dear parents, to Mr. Bisgyer, to Henry Monsky, the
Supreme Pontiff of your Father's graft, and, if you
happen to see him, don't forget to give my greetings
to Mr. James True, and suggest to him that he live
to be one hundred years without any delay whatsoever!
Yours,
