Dear Youth Director:
Enclosed you will find a poster on A. z. A. which we would appre-
ciate your posting on your Bulletin Board.
We are making this request because we sincerely feel that A. Z. A.
can be of benefit to you and your institution, and to the young
people of your community. If you are not aware of the work we are
doing may I briefly state: that thru our program of directed, and
rounded social, social-service, religious, cultural, and athletic
activity stimulated by a spirit of fraternity and imbued with
Judaism and Americanism WC are preparing Jewi sh young mon for lead-
ership and responsibilities in the adult community. 19,000 alophs
in the United States have and arc receiving the benefits of our
program. During the past year 30 chapters have been organized in
New York City.
You are invitod to make inquiry to our Office, 11 W. 42 St., La -
4 - 9492 about A. Z. A. and see for yourself the manner in which
our Order serves Jewish institutions, the community and neighborhoods.
A survey by the Wolfare Council of New York City tells us that here
65.2% of our young men are not participating in any club program.
The other numbers are in the majority without supervision and adrift.
2.4% belong to clubs associated with religious institutions, 1.7%
with Y's, 3.6% with sottlements or centers. That is why we are
taking the liberty of writing to you. This must stop. Jewish young
people must prepare themselves for responsible adult life. A. Z. A.
can not handle this task alone. We need your cooperation. There's
a: job to be done, and we can do it.
I trust you will post the poster, communicate with our office, and
urge your boys to find out for themselves why our members shout in
unison and joy, "It's Really Great To Be An A. Z. A.! 11
Most cordially,
Hyman H. Haves
New York Director
