In addition to local projects, BBYO teens are also invovled with international causes. The Six Million Penny Collection was started in 1979 as a project for BBG and Aleph teens to collect six million pennies. Representing the six million people killed in the Holocaust, the money is then donated to organizations that work to preserve the memory of the Jews killed in the Holocaust, including the U.S. Holocaust Museum and the Center for Genocide Studies.
