General Instructions Regarding Presentation of Gold Footballs and Certificates to Members of the Three 1938 Jewish All-American Teams Information Sheet 1
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING PRESENTATION
OF GOLD FOOTBALLS AND CERTIFICATES TO
MEMBERS OF THE THREE 1938 JEWISH ALL-
AMERICAN TEAMS
+
1. Gold footballs for the members of the first team
are being sent by A Z.A. Headquarters in care of the A. Z. A.
Advisor, deputy or Field Secretary in the city where the pre
sentation is to be made.
2. Certificates for the members of the first, second
and third teams are being sent by A.Z.A. Headquarters to the
newspapers assigned for each presentation by Bernard Postal,
Managing Editor of the Seven Arts Feature Syndicate.
3.
Individuals assigned to represent the A.Z.A. are
urgently requested to get together immediately with the Edi
tor of the newspaper which is making the joint presentation
in order to arrange the following:
a) A public banquet for the members of the first
team at which time the gold football and cer
tificate will be presented. A committee made
up of representatives of the chapter and news
paper must meet with the football player to be
honored, and a convenient date for the presen
tation set. If a banquet is unadvisable, the
presentation should be made at a public meet
ing, luncheon or some other gathering. The en
tire community should be invited to honor the
player.
b) While presentation of the certificate to mem
bers of the second and third teams does not
necessarily call for a banquet, it is suggested
that the presentation be made at a luncheon or
some public gathering.
4. Publicity: An effort should be made to publicize
the presentation affair in not only the local Anglo Jewish news
papers, but in local daily papers as well. See that the name
of A.Z.A and the name of the local newspaper sponsoring the
presentation are prominently mentioned in all publicity re
leases The Aleph Sopher (reporter) of the chapter should we
in close cooperation with the editor of the newspaper. It is
further suggested that an announcement of the presentation be
made over local radio stations and be mentioned by Rabbis at
the Friday evening services prior to the presentation. Also,
get in touch with the publicity department of the university.
They will help you "break" local daily papers.
A.Z.A. chapters are urged to have photographs or snapshots
made of banquets, luncheons and public meetings held in con
nection with the presentation; satisfactory pictures will be
run in The Shofer, official organ of A.Z.A. If pictures appe
in local papers, see that the cut or mat is sent to A.Z.A.
Headquarters.
5. Report: Attached is a form to be filled in and maile
to A.Z.A. Headquarters, 1003 K. Str., N.W., Washington, D-C,,
reporting on the presentation.
