What A.Z.A. Means to American Jewish Youth, 1930
WHAT A.Z.A. HEARS TO AMERICAN JIMISH YOUTH
SAN BEBER
1930
As 170 gather for our coventh International convention, I bid
you welcomo. I ask that DO pause a momont to review the achiovoments
and the purposes of A. 2. A. Organized May S, 1924, ve have grown
rapidly until nor there are 130 chapters to be found throughout the
United States and Canada.
A. 2. A. also to give the Jowish youth of American an under-
standing of Jowich history and Judition; to develop in him a synpathetic
appreciation and lovo of his religion and his people; and to inspiro
him with a dosiro to help and to serve his people and humanity.
Law well A. 2. A. has succooded in carrying out its purposes can
best bo accortained by actual contact with the boys the constitute its
membership. Just to have watched the boys at one of their conventions
or tournaments would convinco evon the most skoptical that there is
something about the vory atnosphore surrounding A. z. A. that Inspires
the bay and attaches him more closely to his people.
Soo how well it is equipped to do its work. In the first placo
it roots on a foundation that is psychologically sound. It takos the
boy at the impressionable stage and places him in company with other
boys of the some age. It does not make the mistake of trying to mix
boys of widely varying agos. #oither does It nix boys and girls in
the samo group :
Each chapter has on advisory board made w of senior B'nai
B'rith non who serve in a purely advicory capacity. Thus, the boy is
furnished with guidance and councel.
