RULES FOR FOURTH ANNUAL NATIONAL DEBATING, ORATORICAL AND
BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT OF THE A.Z.A.
DISTRICT TOURNAMENTS
1. The sponsoring chapter of each district tournament must
house the contestants and supply proper gyms and auditoriums.
2. Each contesting team must defray its own railroad expenses.
The chapter may sponsor some affair to raise money for this
purpose.
3. The sponsoring chapter may use all reasonable means to
raise funds. All money in excess of that needed to pay ex-
penses will go into the treasury of the sponsoring chapter.
4. Under no circumstances will deficits be taken care of by
the Supreme Advisory Council.
5. The purchase of trophies is optional. If the sponsoring
chapter is financially able it is urged to award appropriate
district trophies. Where such is not the case, it might be
possible to put through a plan whereby all chapters in the
district contribute toward the purchase of permanent trophies
for that district.
6. All district tournaments must be completed at least two
weeks before the national finals.
7. All entrees in district tournaments must not be made later
than two weeks prior to the date of contest.
NATIONAL FINALS.
I. Finals will be held in Milwaukee, Wis., under the sponsor-
ship of Milwaukee Chapter No. 39 at a date to be announced
later.

for all district winners will be defrayed by the S.A.C.
3. Housing, gyms, auditoriums and entertainment will be
provided by Milwaukee Chapter No. 39.
4. Permanent trophies will be awarded by the S.A.C. These
will be kept by the chapter winning them three successive
years.
5. Only district winners who have actually competed with teams
in their district will be permitted to enter the national
finals; provided however, that any team which emerges the
winner in its district as the result entirely of defaults
may enter the national finals if it will pay its own rail-
road fare.
ENTREES
I. All entrants must be members in good standing in the chapter
that they represent since Oct. 1, 1927 and must be under 21

2. Birth records of all contestants and prospective contest-
ants must be filed in the office of the Council not later
than Oct. I, 19271
3. The entrees in the national tournament must be the same
men who competed in and won the district tournament; provided
however, that wherever any contestnat is ill, is not in good
standing, has left the city, or for some other good and suf-
ficient reason is not able to participate; then the reason
must be passed on by the President of the S.A.C. and if found
sufficient, a substitute will be permitted.
