Shalom Sam,
Shana tova, I hope you are keeping well, with a new BBYO year
commencing in our chapters, and with our National Exec now in place,
we thought we should write to you regarding certain issues that have
arisen in the past few weeks.
We have now more or less completed those changes that we deemed
necessary, on a staffing level, with the introduction of Angela, which is
working out very well, and on structural level by reassessing our
national calendar and by instructing that 12 year olds should not be
allowed to become members of BBYO. The latter change will need to be
assessed over a period of years, to measure its effect.
two issues have arisen that we need your opinion and advise on, as I
said Last summer, as you know, we sent tow delegates to ILSI for the
first year time and tow delegates on the March of the living, also for the
first time. In both cases those people who went on each event returned
with 'rave reviews' as they say. The distinct impression that we
received from them was that these tow programs were the highest
quality and were particularly well suited to our members. The sense
that we got was that ILSI, was a more 'international' programme and
more relevant in content to the needs of our members. then ILTC, This
has raised the whole issue as to whether or not we would be better
served as a district by sending all of our summer delegates to ILSI next
year.
This could have the additional benefits of keeping them all together as a
group so they could form a more cohesive national executive.
secondly, we feel that our ILSI returnees could more effectively help us
to promote our Israel tours in subsequent years.
As we have said to you on number of occasions, we are keen that BBYO
should retain an international identity and we believe that this can be
