I Remember A Z A During the year 1922 a group of boys met in my home at 2869 Davenport Street in Omaha Nebraska. It was their desire to form a club. This group was no more than 6 or 7 ranging in age from 15 to 17.I was 15 along with 2 others, one was 17and the rest were 16. We did not have a sound reason for forming a clubexcept that it would be a social group and we would do "things together". Within the next few days a few other boys in our age bracket were asked to join us for a total of 13. so we had our first meeting at the Jewish Community Center. We immediately decided we needed an advisor for advice, guidance and help us to give some meaning for us being to- gether. At that time there was a young man living in Omaha by the name of Nathan Mnookin. He was working as a chemist for the Armour Packing Company. He washardly older than we, being 22 at the time. I knew him as he was a good friendo: my brother Dave. Nate spent a good bit of time at our house and I knew himquite well. I suggested his name to the group and my suggestion was accepted forthwith. I was asked to approach him. On arriving home late that Sunday afternoon I found Nate there and immediately told him of my mission to seek out his help to become the advisor of this yet un* named group.Nate gladly accepted. He was with us at ourvery next meetingand worked very closely with us for the rest of his time spent in Omaha. During this period it was fashi onable to think in terms of fraternities and so the name containing three words were was selectinged. We elected to use W Hebrew words and with the help ofMr Samuel Wolfson, a Hbrew teacher, the words Aleph audah Zadik Alephwere selected. The full meaning of the words were developed and with that the club had some course to follow. Under the friendly and warm feeling that Nate developed with the boys we got along splendidl and a few more boys were added. At our meetings a tremendous amount of business was transacted. Every point that was brought up was thonouny discussed and taken apart and put back together again over and over before any decision was reached. Nate went along with us, helped a bit in these discusions and at the right moment knew when to help us come to a decision, These were good sessions done seriously and best of all everyone was in the discussions. At each meeting we had a speaker Mr. Wolfson was a most interesting person and we had great discussions with him. He was with us on many meetings and has been remembered as an "interesting scholar". Another speaker was Professor Nathan Bernstein, He taught at the local high school. His first talk to us was on the atom and energy. It was the first time for all of us on the atom,
